We're the two L's, a single mum and teenage daughter, documenting our journey to an adventure that currently, I am having to convince my daughter to be a part of. In years to come I want to be able to show her this blog and the memories we made along the way, including the protests and the hormonal sulking.
I am a self confessed hoarder and shopaholic and it's time I parted with my possessions and make way for a lighter future. Our life so far has been filled with many twists and turns and I think it's time I write it down as a reminder to always be grateful for what we have at any given moment. You never know when it's going to change.
First challenge, get the teenager on board.
Second challenge is to raise the money which I am dubbing, not so cleverly, Couch to £20K. We are aiming to raise £20,000 in 104 days to help bring to life the dream adventure.
Welcome to motherhood of a teenage daughter
Lola is a newly developing teenager and like most, her friends are more important than her family. She enjoys playing football, exploring fashion, and learning useless facts just so she can drop them into a conversation. She's been trying to become a comedian since the age of 4, and like many comedians, she laughs at herself the most. Navigating teenage life is not easy, doing it in the 21st century more so.
A walking disaster that seems to bumble from one fiasco to another but has somehow, miraculously, kept a human alive single-handedly for thirteen years. Hair and fashion changes quicker than the weather, ideas come and go, and while this may be one of them, so far its the only thing burning brighter than that cheeky evening fag! As a single mum it can be difficult to navigate parenting without another adult so I thought I'd write them down and talk to future Lo instead. Maybe when she's an adult she'll understand I always tried my best
